Gavin grew up in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.  He knew at a young age that horses were going to be part of his life.  Gavin started his equine career riding Thoroughbred race horses at 14 and continued for 10 years.  He discovered competitive carriage driving at an Australian championship and knew it was his calling.  Leaving the racehorse industry he began with livery carriage rides through the streets of downtown Melbourne. Throughout his years in Australia Gavin worked with various clients putting teams together and competing in Combined Driving competitions.  In 1994 and 2004 he won the Australian National Combined Driving Championships.

In 2006, after moving to the U.S. Gavin teamed up with Mr. Larry Denny of Lebanon, Ohio to put a team of young horses together in hopes of competing at the 2010 World Equestrian Games (WEG) in Lexington, Kentucky.  Gavin achieved his goal of competing at the WEG and finished in a respectable 17th place with a young team.

With hopes to pursue more championships in Combined Driving, Gavin spent the summer of 2012 competing at various events in England with Australian team mate Boyd Exell. Gavin is currently working in Australia, and plans have been made to compete with Boyd in 2013.
